A 17-year-old girl was arrested early Friday morning in the wake of a stabbing at 10th Street and College Avenue that left a 30-year-old man bleeding heavily, according to Boulder police.
Police were dispatched to the University Hill neighborhood at about 12:45 a.m. on a report that a stabbing had just occurred there.
When officers arrived, they discovered the victim, 30, bleeding heavily from a laceration to his elbow and one to his stomach.
Investigation revealed that the man was traveling through the state with three other people from California. Witnesses had seen that a female passenger and the victim were arguing when they stopped at the 10th Street and College Avenue intersection and left the vehicle.
According to a news release, a fist fight ensued in which the couple ended up on the ground and the girl stabbed the man. The suspect then fled the area on foot, police said.
At about 5:25 a.m., officers found her at 14th Street and Canyon Boulevard. The teen girl was arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault and taken to the Boulder County Juvenile Detention Center.
The victim, meanwhile, was rushed to Boulder Community Health. He suffered serious injuries but is expected to survive.
